Cigar & Tequila Tasting Evening

This September, we’re bringing a taste of Mexico to the terrace at The Old Custom House, with a very special evening of cigars, tequila and food.

Limited to just 15 guests, we’ll be pairing the Casa 1910 Cuchillo Parado Robusto with three expressions from Don Julio, accompanied by Mexican-inspired dishes from our kitchen.

We’ll start the evening with a Paloma on arrival, before Lisardo Vivas, founder of Toro Puro and certified Habanos Master Sommelier, introduces the cigar for the evening.

The Casa 1910 Cuchillo Parado is something a little different. Made entirely with Mexican tobacco from the San Andrés Valley, its Sumatra wrapper is aged for three years, with its Negro San Andrés binder and filler aged for five. The result is a medium-strength cigar that develops beautifully as you smoke it, with notes of warm bread, cream, cedar and white pepper.

Alongside it, Mike Canham, Luxury Portfolio Brand Ambassador at Diageo, will take us through three Don Julio tequilas: Reposado, Añejo and Don Julio 1942.

Rather than simply tasting the three side by side, each tequila will be introduced at a different point in the cigar, showing how the pairing changes and brings out different flavours as the evening goes on.

Executive Chef Carl Hammett will also be putting together a selection of Mexican-inspired canapés and small dishes to enjoy throughout the tasting.

With only 15 seats around the table, this will be one of our most exclusive tasting evenings of the year.
